The next storm system to affect Central New York arrives Tuesday night and continues into Wednesday. Rain showers changing to snow are expected and some sleet and/or freezing rain is possible during the transition.
A brief period of heavy snow is possible Wednesday afternoon followed by a quieter evening with a few flurries around. Overall, the impact of this spring snow looks low as it will mostly collect on grassy surfaces but it’s not out of the question for some hilltops to see 1-3″ of snow by Thursday afternoon.
Thursday will be cold and blustery with NW winds howling at 15-25 miles per hour with gusts 30-45 mph possible. Wind chill temperatures will be in the 20s and low 30s. Temperatures return to normal for Friday and the weekend (highs in the 50s and low 60s).
