A strong storm system will work into Central New York for the second part of the weekend increasing temperatures, winds and rain chances as we head into Sunday.
High Wind Warning goes in effect Sunday morning for Lewis county and lasts through the afternoon Monday. High Wind Watch goes in effect for Hamilton, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, and Otsego counties Sunday afternoon through Monday afternoon.
Winds will begin to strengthen during the early morning hours on Sunday. Sustained winds will be in the range of 30-40mph in Lewis county with gusts up to 65mph. Areas in the Watch can expect sustained winds in the range of 25-40mph with gusts up to 60mph.
Strong gusty winds will have the potential to bring down trees and power lines. Make sure to secure any loose items to prevent damage to those items and your home.
