Weather Alert Update

Winter Weather Advisories remains in effect for Northern Oneida from 10am Thursday until 7am Friday morning. Winter Weather Advisories also remain in effect for Northern Herkimer and Hamilton county from 7am Thursday until 7am Friday. Lewis County has been upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning from Midnight this evening until 1am Friday.

Snow showers will begin to set up late this evening and continue through the day tomorrow. The passage of a cold front will help generate Lake Effect snow through the later part of Thursday. Areas North of the Thruway can expect to see snowfall accumulations in the range of 4-7 inches; this includes areas in Northern Oneida, Northern Herkimer, and Hamilton Counties. Western Lewis county could see snowfall accumulations in the range of 7-10 inches. Higher elevations in the North Country could see higher amounts in the more intense snow bands. Areas South of the Thruway and along the Mohawk Valley will see a trace to 3 inches.

Road conditions will become slick at times, especially in the North Country. Make sure to give yourself plenty of time to get where you need to be.
