Thunderstorms Friday, chilly weekend, snow early next week

Damaging wind gusts possible Friday as a cold front kicks up strong thunderstorms.

Thursday, March 19, 2020 (UTICA) – Temperatures continue to rise overnight Thursday night as rain moves in. Rain will give way to spotty showers Friday morning as temperatures surge into the upper 60s & low 70s.

A cold front Friday afternoon kicks up a line of potentially dangerous thunderstorms, the main threat being damaging wind gusts. Behind that, temperatures will fall off quickly late Friday and into the mid-20s Friday night.

That sets the stage for a chilly weekend. Though it will be dry with plentiful sunshine, temperatures only reach the upper-30s Saturday and low 40s Sunday (which is typical of mid-March).

Our next weather maker arrives Monday. This storm will bring snow to the area with rain mixing in Monday afternoon as temperatures warm into the 40s. Check back for updates as it is too early to take a stab at snow totals.
