CENTRAL NEW YORK (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Temperatures drop below freezing Wednesday night with a small chance for some lake effect flurries. Thursday will start with some clouds but they dissipate in the morning and we’re left with nothing but sunshine for the afternoon. It will be only a few degrees warmer than Wednesday, despite the sun.

Another cold start Friday to low 50s in the afternoon with continued sunshine. Temperatures near 60° Saturday afternoon and top out in the mid-60s on Sunday. Both days remain dry. Our next chance for showers (and thunderstorms) will be Monday and Tuesday. Details will be ironed out as we get closer.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be breezy with low relative humidity and thus an increased wildfire danger. Those enjoying fire pits and campfires this weekend should take extra care. Fires must not be left unattended and extinguished completely. Any open burning is banned through May 14, 20222.
