Utica mayor Robert Palmieriis expected to present his 2013- 2014 budget Tuesday morning.
Although City Hall wasclosed today because of Presidents’ Day, the mayor and his staff were at workfinalizing details of the proposed budget.
The mayor says this year’sbudget is a continuation of hard decisions made last year with an $8 million deficit
He says with this proposedbudget not everyone is going to be happy.
“If you look at the costof doing business with the medical costs, with pension costs, with your 85% ofthe budget which is contractual there are certainly items in there that are outof our control of the administration or anyone. We met them we understand wherewe need to make the cuts. But we still have to provide services to the customerwhich is the people and that’s what we will do,” said Mayor Palmieri.
The mayor will present hisbudget tomorrow to the Board of Estimate and Apportionment.
Tuesday night the mayorwill bring his budget proposal to a citizen’s budget forum. Everyone isinvited. It will take place at the Jewish Community Center at 6:30 p.m.
A second meeting will beheld on February 21st at the Utica School of Commerce at 6:30 p.m.
And the last forum will beheld February 25th at 6:30 at the North Utica Senior Center.
