UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Wednesday marked one of the biggest days in high school and collegiate athletics, National Signing Day, or the first day that a high school athlete is allowed to sign a binding National Letter of Intent to a NCAA collegiate athletic program.

According to the organization Next College Student Athlete (NCSA) over 48,000 student-athletes will sign during this period, and the New Hartford and Whitesboro school districts were included in this number with six total making the official commitment to Division 1 or 2 institutions.

Those athletes include:

New Hartford:

Logan Banek – Men’s Lacrosse – Siena College

Katie Lester – Women’s Swimming – University of Vermont

Whitesboro::

Reina Loiacano – Women’s Swimming – Southern Connecticut State University

Brinley Ronan – Women’s Lacrosse – Davenport University

Hannah Smith – Women’s Soccer – St. Bonaventure University

Christopher Stillwell – Men’s Golf – Assumption University
