Walk-off magic for Utica Post.
Down to their final two outs against Oriskany Post trailing 4-3, Rob Conley drilled a game-tying triple and then Chris Godlewski brought him home to give Utica the dramatic 5-4 victory on Tuesday evening at Murnane Field.
Utica struck first in the opening frame scoring on a bases-loaded walk, but Aaron Drake came on in relief to get Anthony Giglio to line into an inning-ending double play courtesy of Ryan Enos.
Oriskany’s offense finally got going in the top of the fourth, plating three runs off Manny Cooper to take a 3-1 advantage. Utica though came right in the bottom half when Steve Penge’s two-out, two-run single tied the game at three.
Oriskany re-took the lead in the top of the fifth on a Matt Enos RBI single. It stayed that way until the seventh when Utica Post rallied to remain unbeaten in postseason play, while Oriskany is now one loss away from elimination.
