UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – With a pair of wins last week over Stevenson, the Utica women’s ice hockey team had a chance to move into the DCU/USCHO Division III women’s hockey poll, and with SUNY Cortland dropping a pair of games to unranked Oswego State, that is exactly what happened for the Pioneers. Despite receiving votes in every poll, Utica was yet to break into the top-15, that is until Monday, when they appeared in that 15th spot.

There was movement among other area hockey teams in their respective polls as well, the Utica men moving up two positions into the Division III top four after losses by #2 Adrian and #3 Geneseo, in Division I the Colgate women fell two spots after their first loss of the year to #7 Quinnipiac and the Cornell women held in their spot at #9, and then rounding out the women’s DIII movement is #13 Hamilton, who previously held that #15 spot that Utica now sits in, but also benefitted from Cortland losses.
