Utica Academy of Science picks up huge win over Cooperstown

The Utica Academy of Science keeps their hopes for a first ever Center State Conference title alive.

The Atoms picked up a huge 70-56 victory over Cooperstown on Monday night to tie things up at the top of the standings.  Both teams sit at 7-1 with two league games remaining.

Ryan Maddox led all scorers with 30 points for the Utica Academy of Science and LaMarqus Merchant added 20.  Jack Lambert had 21 for Cooperstown to eclipse 1,500 points for his high school career.

The Utica Academy of Science came out of a back-and-forth affair to lead 31-26 after one half.  Cooperstown fought back to cut the deficit to one in the third, but the Atoms were able to pull away late to secure the victory.

Elsewhere, Herkimer got past Oriskany 61-54.
