RFA holds off Proctor to win opener

RFA varsity baseball hangs on to beat Proctor.

The Black Knights built a 5-1 lead after six innings, only to see the Raiders rally for three in the seventh to get within one, but Damon Camponaro shut the door from there as RFA picked up the 5-4 win.

Starters Justin Swavely and Jason DeJesus were locked in a pitchers’ duel through four innings.  The Black Knights broke through in the fifth when Riley Brawdy scored on a Felix De Asa De La Cruz throwing error.

Later in the inning, Campanaro launced a two-run double to give RFA a 3-0 lead.  They would extend that lead to 5-0 in the sixth before Proctor stormed back to get within one.

RFA is slated to be in action next on Monday against Jamesville-Dewitt, while Proctor is off unitl next Thursday when they face Lowville.
