Pop Warner Season NOT Canceled, Says North Utica Raiders

Sports

North Utica Raiders Football has announced that “as a result of the poor behavior of a few individuals across the league (Tri-Valley) the referees have requested a week off … to develop a safety plan … before the next game(s) will be played.”

The team says the season is NOT canceled, which the team says some other news organizations have reported “based on poorly worded documents that news organizations should not have had access to.” (CNY Homepage is not one of the organizations that reported incorrect information.)

The team says the “plan will include a zero tolerance policy to any verbal or other action that threatens the safety of the children.” “Practice will continue as normally scheduled,” but games for Week 4 have been canceled.”

The team says “there will be a parent meeting at some point during the week of 9/27 to give everyone a chance to ask questions, details to follow.” The team says it “will not comment on this topic beyond this message.”
