Oneida softball reaches first Final Four

For the first time in school history, Oneida softball is headed to the Final Four.

The Indians took down Waverly in their state tournament opener 3-1 on Friday night at Carrier Park in Syracuse.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the third, Oneida answered with two in the bottom half to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Lauren Skibitski extended the Indians’ lead to 3-1 with an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.

That was more than enough support for starting pitcher Kyra Shlotzhauer, who allowed just four hits and struck out 10 in a complete game effort.
