Danny Owen’s baseball career is far from over.
The New Hartford pitcher signed a letter of intent on Thursday afternoon to play collegiately at The College of Saint Rose in Albany.
“I’ve been waiting for this day since I was a kid,” Owen said. “I’m happy Saint Rose gave me the opportunity to go and play baseball there for the next four years. Whether they need me to be a starter or a reliever, I just hope I can help them win games.”
Spartans head coach Kevin Green has no doubt Owen will succeed at the next level.
“Danny is a student of the game,” Green said. “He’ll do whatever it takes for the betterment of the team. He’s a high character kid, and a very classy young man so he’ll have a great four years there and they’re getting a very special young person.”
Before he makes his way there, Owen still has to finish up with the Spartans, who have stumbled out of the gate with a 1-7 start.
