Sports

The Major Arena Soccer League announced today that it is “close to finding a resolution on conducting the playoffs.” The league says it has not finalized a plan yet, but it says the plan would include a “5-day training camp, immediately into a 10-day playoff,” eight playoff teams playing all games at one arena, and a plan for coronavirus testing, quarantining, social distancing, sanitizing and housing. No start date for the playoffs has been announced. Utica City FC would qualify as one of the eight playoff teams. UCFC ended the regular season tied for second in the Eastern Division with an overall record of 14-6. The league says it plans to have a full announcement in the next week. The league also adds that it thinks having the playoffs will bring attention to the MASL at “a level never previously achieved.”
