Sammy Watkins has a broken foot, but should not miss any games.
Training camp is another story.
Tyler Dunne from the Buffalo News broke the story initially on twitter. Per his story, Watkins broke a small bone in his foot and had surgery with a screw inserted about a month ago.
Ian Rapoport from NFL Network also reported the story soon after Dunne and pegged the surgery date at three weeks ago.
Rapoport said Watkins “should” be ready for training camp. Dunne said the Bills are “hopeful” he’d be ok to participate at Fisher.
The Bills posted a short story on their website confirming the surgery soon after the news broke. The team says he’s not expected to miss any game time, but did not discuss a timetable for his return.
Watkins himself later tweeted he was fine and when a fan asked if Sammy would be ready for preseason, the Bills star responded with “of course.”
Although there appears little danger of Watkins missing games, it’s another injury to Buffalo’s top receiver.
Watkins played through broken ribs as a rookie and had surgery to repair a hip injury in the offseason.
In 2015, Watkins missed three games because of calf and ankle injuries.
