The Bills thought it would be helpful to clear snow off the field during halftime of their game against the Steelers.
It was just another Buffalo play that suffered from poor execution.
While clearing snow, the tractors also churned up piles of small rubberized pellets that help cushion the artificial surface.
The second half was delayed a few minutes while stadium employees removed the piles of pellets. At one point, the Bills coaching staff was doing their part on the Buffalo sideline.
The Bills said in a statement during the third quarter that the brush on one of the tractors used for snow removal was too firm. That caused the build-up of rubber pellets.
Buffalo’s field crew worked in conjunction with NFL officials to clear the sidelines to their specifications before the second half could begin.
