UTICA, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — The Utica University Pioneers football team moved up another spot in the latest AFCA Coaches’ Poll, released on Monday, September 25.

The Pioneers find themselves up one spot from last week’s poll to number 23 after a 31-7 victory over Curry College. Utica is currently 4-0 with wins over Rochester, Moravian and Lycoming.

Currently, the top four spots remained the same with North Central College, Mount Union, Wisconsin-Whitewater and Wartburg of Iowa. Two other New York State Schools also remained in the rankings, as Ithaca College moved up four spots to number 18. Meanwhile, SUNY Cortland, who the Pioneers will face on Saturday, October 7, moved up one spot from last week to number 20. Two New York schools also received votes as well: RPI received 31 votes, while Union College received 11 votes.

The Pioneers will be back in action on Saturday, September 30, for their homecoming game against Hartwick College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 pm.
