LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Veteran’s Park in Little Falls played host to a doubleheader of great games tonight, Little Falls playing host to Holland Patent in both softball and baseball.

Baseball: Starting on the baseball diamond, Little Falls at 12-1 on the year and the three seed in Class B, welcoming to town 11-4 Holland Patent who sat right behind them in the standings in fifth.

Holland Patent held a 2-0 lead in the game going into the fifth inning, but the Mounties would turn the tides, scoring two runs, one on a sac fly and one on an infield single, to tie the game at two heading to the sixth.

Holland Patent would not be able to score in their half of the sixth and it would come down to Little Falls’ bats in the bottom half to get the job done.

They would, scoring two runs on a Josh Shepardson bases loaded single to make the score 4-2. Holland Patent could not answer in the seventh, and they game would finish 4-2.

Little Falls moves to 13-1 on the year and holds steady at third in Class B, while Holland Patent falls to 11-5, and drops a single spot, now sixth in the Class B standings.

Softball: Holland Patent softball came into this road matchup with Center State Conference rival Little Falls as one of the hottest teams in Section 3.

11-1 and 15th in the state, the Golden Knights are led by Senior Hannah Rossi in the circle, who has thrown three one-hitters this season, including one against Little Falls in the teams first head-to-head back in April.

Holland Patent would get out to a 1-0 lead early in the game, but fielding mistakes would allow Little Falls back in, an error and an overthrow letting Mountie Susanne Begley get all the way around the bases and tie the game at 1 run apiece.

The Golden Knights would not let that hope stay for long though for Little Falls, scoring two runs on a Ella Armitage single and not looking back.

Hannah Rossi would pitch the full 7 innings, not allowing a hit and wracking up 13 strikeouts while walking just one, to lead Holland Patent to a 7-1 victory. Their record moves to 12-1 overall on the year, while Little Falls ends up 3-10 after this game.
