It was too little too late for Whitesboro softball.
The Warriors entered the top of the seventh inning down 3-0 to Jamesville-Dewitt, but rallied to score a pair of runs before Hannah Horan’s grounder to third ended their hopes of capturing the school’s first sectional title in softball in 30 years.
The Red Rams meanwhile took home their third straight crown.
Caitlin Reilly got the start for Whitesboro, allowing three unearned runs and striking out four in a complete-game effort.
“We battled hard, but in the end, only one team can win,” head coach Aaron Cirasuolo said. “I was very proud of the girls and it was just unfortunate we couldn’t pull through. We gave it everything we had.”
