Move over Joe DiMaggio.
After connecting on his 29th home run of the season on Wednesday against the Blue Jays, Yankees rookie Aaron Judge has now tied DiMaggio for the most home runs ever by a Yankees rookie in a season.
No, that’s not a typo. On July 5th, with nearly three months left in the season, Judge has already hit as many home runs as any Yankee rookie in history.
Judge hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the Yankees’ deficit to 5-2, but the Blue Jays were able to hang on at the end to get the 7-6 win.
It’s only a matter of time before he stands alone in team history, and Judge’s next chance will come on Friday night at Yankee Stadium against the Brewers.
