UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Former Notre Dame and Proctor football star KeniJaymes “Magic” Johnson signed his Letter of Intent to play college football for the NAIA Simpson University Red Hawks on Thursday afternoon, committing to the team for its’ first collegiate football season.

Johnson was one of two primary running backs for the Raiders in 2022, helping them to a 5-4 record and a playoff victory before the team was eliminated in the Class AA semifinals.

Simpson University announced late in 2022 that they would be adding football as their 20th varsity sport, and will play a scrimmage season in 2023 before graduating to varsity ball for a full year in 2024.
