NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Zach Philipkoski was already known as perhaps the best boys’ basketball player in Section 3 going into New Hartford’s game with Proctor on Tuesday night, but he made sure his name would be etched in stone with a 32-point performance that made him his school’s all-time leading scorer in a 66-57 win for the Spartans.

The school record of 1,416 points, set by Tim Welchons Jr., had stood since the early 2000’s but Philipkoski needed 28 to tie it, above his season average of 25.3 points per game. He eclipsed the mark in the second half on an isolation play against Binghamton baseball commit Todd Abraham, driving the lane and converting a layup.

Philipkoski has 11 games left in the regular season to extend his scoring mark, and is on pace to reach 1,700 career points without sectional play being taken into account.
