ONEIDA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Henninger and Oneida girls’ basketball teams both entered Thursday’s contest without a blemish on their record, the Lady Black Knights were 3-0 with wins over Skaneateles, the Syracuse Academy of Science and Chittenango, and the Indians stood at 1-0, the one win coming in their one game, against Whitesboro. Only Henninger left without a mark in that second column on Thursday, grabbing a lead in the first quarter and never letting go, despite some close calls, on their way to a 48-40 win.

Oneida’s game plan of taking shots from beyond the arc kept them close throughout but couldn’t get them over the top. The team took 20 threes, connecting on just 4 of those but the 8 points that separated the two teams at the end was the largest deficit that Oneida finished a quarter with, down by one after the first quarter, three after the second, and then once again after the third.

Iyanna Kyles led all players in points, tallying 23 for the Lady Black Knights, and Myah Rainbow had the high mark for Oneida with 15.
