SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The previous two seasons had not gone according to plan for the Adirondack Wildcats, a Class D Sectional Final loss to powerhouse Dolgeville in 2021 and an upset loss in the Class C Semifinals as the top seed to Holland Patent in 2022. The 2023 Wildcats were determined to make it their year though, as the four-seed in the Class C bracket defeating Section III number one and New York State Sportswriters Association top overall team Cazenovia in the semifinals, and following that with a final-minute score and win over another state-ranked team, General Brown, who was also the only team to beat them in the regular season, 30-26.
Quarterback John “Johnny Touchdown” Hennessey led the way for his Wildcats under Head Coach (and his father) Rob Hennessey, scoring three touchdowns, including the game-winning scramble, and contributing 24 of their 30 total points in the contest.
