POLAND, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – A fourteen-run fourth inning carried the seventh-seeded Poland past a tenth-seeded Hamilton in the Class D Softball Sectional First Round on Tuesday evening, setting up a matchup with second-seeded Oriskany with a chance to go to the Sectional title game on the line on Thursday.

Shelbi Hagues and Sarah Zuchowski each drove in four runs in the Tornadoes 22-run onslaught, Zuchowski finishing 4-5 with those four RBI and two runs scored, while Hagues did it all, similarly 4-5 with four runs batted in but also tallying four runs scored herself and finishing just a homerun shy of the cycle. She also threw five shutout innings with a pair of strikeouts.

The 22-0 win, Poland’s second largest of the season, puts them in position to reach the Sectional Final if they can get past a 15-3 Oriskany team that they had lost to twice in the regular season including on May 19th, 3-2.
