Herkimer baseball falls in 12 innings in Region III Final Four

It took Erie Community College and Herkimer 12 innings to decide a winner on Friday.

When all was said and done, the Kats walked out of Veterans Park with an extra-inning 6-4 victory.  Herkimer will now face elimination on Saturday at noon against Niagara Community College.

Erie struck first with an RBI triple in the top of the first.  The Generals took their first lead when Brian Forbes connected on a 3-run home run in the fifth.

The Kats came right back in the top of the sixth with a two-run home run of their own to tie it at three.  They would later take the lead on a bases-loaded walk in the seventh.

In the bottom half, Forbes’ second home run tied things up at four.  It stayed that away until Erie broke through with two runs in the 12th to win it.
