Girls Soccer: Clinton, New Hartford fall in semis

Two local girls soccer teams see their season end in the sectional semifinals.

In the early game at Chittenango High School, Haley Cole’s header with under 15 minutes to play propelled No. 2 Lowville to a 1-0 victory over No. 3 Clinton.

The Warriors came close several times, with Emmilene Macpherson ringing one of the cross bar and Sarah Owens narrowly missing from point black range with five minutes left.

In the late game, No. 1 Jamesville-Dewitt’s goal with 5:47 left lifted the Red Rams to a thrilling 1-0 win over New Hartford.

Elsewhere, Holland Patent’s magical run comes to an end with a 3-0 loss to No. 1 Westhill.
