ROCHESTER, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) — The Washington Nationals franchise announced on Tuesday, September 19 that former RFA pitcher Tyler Schoff was elevated to the Rochester Red Wings, the team’s AAA club.

The RFA graduate and Lee Center native was immediately put into the Red Wings lineup for their game on Tuesday against the Indianapolis Indians. He went one full inning of relief and gave up three runs in Rochester’s 19-1 loss. He has since been transferred to the team’s Development List on Wednesday, September 20.

Schoff started the 2023 season with the Class A-Advanced Wilmington Blue Rocks of the South Atlantic League, where he went 4-3 with four saves in six opportunities in 23 games. He put together a 3.38 ERA in Wilmington in 34 2/3 innings with 53 strikeouts and a 1.13 WHIP.

Schoff was elevated to AA Harrisburg in June, going 1-1 with a 3.04 ERA. He also racked up six saves in seven opportunities in 22 games, pitching 30 strikeouts and walking just 11 in 26 2/3 innings of play.

The Red Wings will finish out their 2023 season over the next five days between Wednesday, September 20 and Sunday, September 24 with a series against the Indianapolis Indians.
