For the 17th time, Dolgeville football is your Section III Class D champion.
The Blue Devils got redemption one year after falling in the sectional finals to Onondaga beating Bishop Ludden 50-38.
“We didn’t want to be (sectional) finalists,” Nic Bailey said. “We wanted to be sectional champions and we proved that we aren’t the same team from last year.”
Dolgeville came out this season on a mission, going undefeated throughout the regular season and continuing that in the sectional playoffs.
“It feels tremendous for my kids,” head coach Dan Zilkowski said. “Our team put in an incredible amount of work in the offseason. We’re a very small, rural area with a lot of heart and physical football play.”
The Blue Devils will now turn their attention to the state playoffs which begin this Friday from Union-Endicott High School.
