Cooperstown baseball does it again.
For the second time in the last three years, the Hawkeyes captured the Section III Class C title with a 2-1 win over Oriskany on Sunday night at Murnane Field.
Kendall Haney’s RBI single in the top of the eighth inning proved to be the difference for Cooperstown.
It appeared the Hawkeyes would wrap things up in seven innings, but down to their last strike, Keagan Kraeger came through with a game-trying single off Chris Ubner for the Redskins to send the game to extras.
Haney then put Cooperstown back in front and recorded the final three outs on the mound to send the Hawkeyes to the state tournament.
