UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The New Jersey Devils announced today that they had re-signed the last of their restricted free agents, that player being one very familiar to Utica Comets fans, forward Fabian Zetterlund.
Zetterlund signed a one-year, two-way contract with the organization worth $750,000 at the NHL level and $125,000 at the AHL, with $175,000 guaranteed. With the Comets last year, Zetterlund was the team’s second-leading scorer, putting up 52 points in 58 games with 24 goals and 28 assists, he also led Utica with 8 power-play goals and also recorded 8 points in the Calder Cup Playoffs, which tied for tops on the roster. Zetterlund also played some games in the NHL last year, 14 to be exact, and tallied 8 points on 3 goals and 5 assists.
The Comets’ season starts October 15th with Utica’s first home game taking place on October 17th.
