UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Over the Utica Comets first 36 games, exactly one half of the season, they’d only played the Syracuse Crunch three times. In the second half the two teams will face off in almost one-third of the Comets’ remaining games, 11 of the next 36. That series started Friday night with the Comets hosting the Crunch for the first time all year, winless in their three appearances at the War Memorial.
Despite the heroic effort of Akira Schmid in net, the Comets lost their fourth straight attempt to beat the Crunch this season, failing to score a goal and snapping a six-game home win streak that stretched back to mid-December in a 2-0 loss.
The Comets are back on the ice Saturday looking for revenge against these same Crunch, that game set for puck drop at 7pm at the Upstate Medical Center Arena.
