UTICA, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Utica Comets and Laval Rocket had played twice previously leading up to their Wednesday night matchup at the Adirondack Bank Center, and both of those games finished with similar results, having gone into overtime with Laval claiming victory in the extra period. The Rocket did not need the extra frame in the two teams third faceoff, winning by a final score of 5-2.
Laval scored less than a minute into the game on loaned Devils’ goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood and added two more goals in the opening period before Samuel Laberge got the Comets on the board with 6:17 to go in the period. Laberge added another goal in the third to draw Utica within one, but a Rocket goal followed closely after, and the team scored an empty netter to bring their lead to where it finished, three goals.
