Comets end season with shootout win over Crunch

The Comets end their season on a high note.

Utica beat the Crunch 4-3 in a shootout on Sunday evening to wrap up the 2018-19 season.  It was the final game of Jaime Sifers’ career.  Marek Mazanec picked up the win in net.

Syracuse jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind goals from Alexander Volkov and Otto Somppi 7:50 into the second period.  Brendan Woods answered to cut the deficit to 2-1, but Nolan Valleau found the back of the net to give Syracuse a two-goal edge once again.

Two minutes later, Vincent Arseneau scored it front to make it a 3-2 game, and Zack MacEwen tied things up at three early in the third.

The game would head to a shootout where Kole Lind delivered the winner for Utica.

The Comets conclude their season with a record of 34-34-6-2.
