Comets earn point, fall to Springfield in OT

Sports

The losing streak for the Comets has reached six games.

Utica fell to the Thunderbirds on Friday night 2-1 in overtime.  Anthony Greco netted the game-winner on a penalty shot in the extra session.

Following a scoreless first period, Matt Mangene’s shot from the point got as Michael Leighton to give Springfield a 1-0 lead.

In the third, Seamus Malone delivered the equalizer in his first professional hockey league game.  He was signed to an ATO after wrapping up his college career at Wisconsin.

The game moved to OT where Greco’s goal proved to be the difference.

The Comets are back at home tomorrow night to face the Hartford Wolf Pack.  Puck drop is scheduled for 7pm.
