Comets avenge 10-1 loss, beat Crunch 4-2

Sports

No Darren Archibald, no problem for the Comets on Wednesday night.

In their first game since learning of his trade to the Senators, the Comets took down the Crunch 4-2, avenging last Friday’s 10-1 loss at the hands of Syracuse.

Reid Boucher got the scoring started with six seconds left in the first period.  Alex Barre-Boulet’s power-play tally knotted things at one in the second.

In the third, Jesse Graham gave the Comets the lead again.  Evan McEneny made it 3-1 two minutes later and Brendan Gaunce sealed the victory with an empty-netter.

Thatcher Demko stopped 31 shots in what could be his final game ever in Utica.

The Comets return to action on Saturday for an afternoon affair against the Cleveland Monsters.
