The Comets are adding to their depth.
The team has signed goalie Ivan Kulbakov and forward Kyle Thomas to one-year AHL contracts.
Kulbakov will likely spend the majority of this upcoming season playing for the ECHL’s Kalamazoo Wings with Thatcher Demko and Richard Bachman solidified as the top two goalies for Utica.
Kulbakov appeared in 22 games last season for the ECHL’s Quad City Mallards going 11-11-0 with a 3.63 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage. He also saw action in eight AHL games with the Cleveland Monsters going 0-5.
Thomas, 28, played in 50 games for the ECHL’s Utah Grizzlies this past season scoring 14 goals to go along with 30 assists. In addition, he scored one goal in seven games for the AHL’s San Diego Gulls.
