SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – The Dome in Syracuse will go by a new name for at least the next 10 years, Syracuse University signing a deal with JMA Wireless, a Syracuse based tech company who was recently hired to install 5G in the Los Angeles Chargers and Rams new SoFi Stadium, for the naming rights.

The school had previously signed a 2.75 million dollar naming rights deal with Carrier International Inc. for the business to hold the naming rights to the arena in perpetuity, a financial decision that the school has called a “massive mistake.”

Carrier International had released those rights earlier this month at the request of the University, with the new name pairing being announced Thursday morning, May 19.

JMA Wireless is a Syracuse founded and based company, CEO and co-founder John Mezzalingua speaking to the press today about the new agreement between the company and university, stating that their plan is to install state of the art technology in the Dome, allowing for better connectivity while inside the building itself.

This is just a step in a long line of updates and renovations to the Dome in recent years, and it will not be the last, the school planning to build a 25000 square foot event space connecting the building to the Barnes Center in the coming years.
