The Carrier Dome is being transformed.
Syracuse University is committing to spend $118 million on renovations, a project that’s expected to be completed by 2022 and will not interfere with any football, basketball or lacrosse games.
Improvements include building a new permanent roof, a hanging video scoreboard, air conditioning and enhanced audio and lighting systems.
“We want to create a new and greatly enhanced fan experience for all our visitors,” athletic director John Wildhack said at a news conference. “This is an iconic venue in American sports, and with the improvements that we make will only improve the national recognition that this facility has.”
