The battle for the Sparrior Cup continues to be one-sided.
New Hartford has brought it home each of the last five seasons, including on Thursday night when they beat Whitesboro 19-5.
“We want to keep it (in New Hartford) every single year,” senior Mike Fiorentino said. “Like our coach said before the game, when that cup goes on the table, anyone can take it.”
Fiorentino recognized that, and came out on fire scoring a game-high five goals. Junior Adam Mirza had four. The victory marked the Spartans’ second in two meetings over Whitesboro, with New Hartford outscoring the Warriors 34-8.
“It just gets more and more fun every game,” Mirza said. “When we pound them like we just did and we keep going and don’t give up, it feels great.”
With the win, the Spartans are now 9-2 on the season and feeling pretty good about where they stand.
“It goes back to how much work we put in throughout the season,” Fiorentino said. “It’s a good feeling.”
