Bertram out as Cooperstown coach

Sports

David Bertram’s days as the Cooperstown boys basketball head coach are over.

Bertram announced he’s stepping down from the position after 16 years.  He was recently named as the school’s new athletic director, and the administration would not allow him to serve in both capacities.

During his time with the Hawkeyes, Bertram won 256 games and lost just 87.  He won five Section III championships, including two with his son Tyler, who received a Division 1 basketball scholarship to UNC-Charlotte.

Last season, Cooperstown fell to Tully in the sectional finals.
