Darren Archibald appears to be on his way back to Utica.
The longtime Comet cleared waivers on Tuesday, creating the path for him to return to the Adirondack Bank Center for the start of the season on Friday night.
Archibald was called up to the Canucks toward the end of last season and impressed to the point Vancouver made him ineligible for the AHL playoffs for the fear of losing him on waivers.
He re-signed with the Canucks over the offseason, but did not receive an opening day roster spot.
Sam Gagner also cleared waivers. However, the Canucks have agreed to loan him to the Marlies instead of sending him to the Comets. Vancouver can recall him at any point.
