Rex thinks Dareus will play

There are plenty of Bills less than 100 percent as the team begins preparations in earnest for the Raiders.

The biggest story is Mr. Big Stuff himself, Marcell Dareus.

Rex Ryan said on Wednesday he thinks Dareus will play in Oakland. He will be limited in practice Wednesday with an abdominal strain that knocked him out late in the win over Jacksonville.

You guys can do the math,” Rex Ryan said. “If you don’t finish a game, those are the guys that are really in jeopardy.”

Ronald Darby is still in concussion protocol. He won’t practice Wednesday, along with wideouts Percy Harvin and Robert Woods.

Charles Clay gets his usual Wednesday off, as does Lorenzo Alexander.

Cordy Glenn also will not practice Wednesday. It was the norm for him early in the season after suffering a sprained ankle in preseason, but Rex expressed some concern for Glenn this week due to today’s absence.

Rex acknowledged the task in front of the Bills this week is daunting.

“This team is 9-2 and for good reason,” Ryan said of the Raiders. “The offense in particular, they have a lot of weapons. We’re going to struggle [matching] them, but we still feel good.”

The compliments were also flying for former University at Buffalo star Khalil Mack. Ryan said he doesn’t envy the tackles that have to prepare for him.

“This guy can do it all,” Ryan said. “He can truck you, he can run around you… He’s pretty much a nightmare.”

At the bottom of the Bills roster, Rex confirmed the team has signed Logan Thomas from Detroit’s practice squad.

The former college and NFL QB has switched to tight end. At 6-6, 250, he has the prerequisite size and as a former quarterback, assumably, the athleticism. Ryan says Thomas wants to learn how to block, too. The Bills will give him a shot.

Dez Lewis was promoted to the active roster for what may be his final chance to latch on with the Bills.

Of the 2015 7th round pick, Rex said “He’s gotta poop or get off the pot.”

Just another day at a Rex Ryan press conference.
