The Bills have lots of coaches. Some for offense, some for defense, some for special teams.

They have a new special team that needs coaching: public relations.

As of Monday, they have a coach for that, too.

According to Mike Rodak of ESPN.com, the Bills have hired Gerry Matalon. He’s a former talent (ie. anchors and reporters) coach at ESPN.

Matalon is advising new head coach Sean McDermott, working on Doug Whaley’s public image and meeting with team executives this week at the owner’s meetings in Phoenix.

It’s likely, the two disastrous press conferences to end the year–Anthony Lynn’s first and the season ender with Whaley-prompted the move.

This isn’t new for Matalon. He’s advised NFL coaches and front office personnel in the past.

Now, he’s trying to mold the Bills into something more presentable.
