The Bills finally got some good news on Sammy Watkins Wednesday.
Sammy Watkins reportedly went to see foot specialist Dr. Robert Anderson to find out if he would need a second, and season ending, surgery on his injured foot.
According to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the verdict was no surgery.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter also reported that Watkins will not need another operation.
That means Watkins could still return to the Bills after Thanksgiving. Watkins is currently on injured reserve, but could be the one player Buffalo could pull off that list before the season is over.
He must miss eight games. The first game he is eligible would be November 27th against Jacksonville.
The Bills did not confirm the report, nor did they confirm the initial report that Watkins went to see Dr. Anderson.
Rex Ryan said on Wednesday he had not heard about the reports on Watkins and did not know if he’ll need a second surgery.
