Bills cap off their preseason with a much needed win

NFL Buffalo

After a preseason filled with concussions, trades, punts and penalties the Bills ended on a high note, picking up their first victory in their last 256 days.

Nate Peterman started in place of the concussed Tyrod Taylor and looked sharp in his quarter of action.

The rookie quarterback was 9 of 11 for 81 yards and both of his two drives ended with points.

Left tackle Cordy Glenn got his first action of the preseason after battling through a sore foot. Glenn played two series with the offense and was happy to get his feet wet.

“I think it just good to you know get comfortable out there and go through all the routines and rituals of the game and just get that all set up so when week 1 comes everything is not just hitting you all at one time,” joked Glenn.

Thursday night was also about the players on the bubble trying to make a case for them to make the 53 man roster.

Wide receiver Brandon Reilly had a pair of catches for 27 yards and added a tackle on special teams as well.

Jonathan Williams finished the night with 53 yards on the ground including a 21 yard score in the first quarter.

Joe Banyard led the Bills with 68 rushing yards as he makes his case to stay on the team.

Buffalo native and University of Buffalo grad Jordan Johnson scored a touchdown in the 4th quarter to cap of the Bills 27-17.

“I was proud of the way the guys played they’ve worked extremely hard all the way you go back to the spring and the leadership and the young guys you saw here tonight that was fun to watch I thought they were sharp they did a good job,” said Sean McDermott.

The Bills committed just five penalties on the night and forced three turnovers of the Lions.

“You know I think the results showed. You win games when you don’t have negative yards and penalties  and that’s something coach McDermott is always talking about so carry that forward for sure and we will be in good shape,” smiled Peterman

The Bills have until 4pm Saturday to cut their roster down to 53 players.
