Winter weather will be making a return to Central New York over the next several days. The forecast will run the gamut of winter conditions from snow, high winds and wind chills. There is even a concern for patchy freezing rain late Wednesday into early Thursday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for areas that include Oneida, Herkimer and Madison Counties. A Wind Advisory for Oneida and Otsego Counties. And, A Wind Chill Advisory for Herkimer and Hamilton Counties.
A Special Weather Statement was made late Wednesday regarding patchy freezing rain possible in the Southern area of Central New York, including Otsego and Delaware Counties.
The Winter Weather Advisory will run from Thursday at 1:00AM until Friday at 1:00AM. Snow and blowing snow expected, with total snow accumulations of 3 to 6 inches possible. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. For the Wind Chill Advisory, dangerous winds chills can be expected with values as low as 20 to 25 below zero.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning and evening commute.
