Winter Weather Advisory Issued

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for most of entire area for Saturday night. The concern is over a mix of precipitation that could include ice. The area in the Advisory area is Oneida, Otsego and Delaware Counties, along with the Southern Adirondacks and Western Mohawk Valley. The time range of the Advisory ranges from 7:00PM Saturday until noon on Sunday.

Mixed precipitation is expected with total snow and sleet accumulations of up to one inch and ice accumulations of up to a quarter of an inch expected.

The combination of heavy wet snow remaining on trees and powerlines above 800 feet and additional ice, snow, and sleet accumulation expected may result in new isolated to scattered power outages. Plan on slippery road conditions.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.
