ORISKANY, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) – Giotto Enterprises of Oriskany is giving some Westmoreland High School students the chance to go from Bulldogs to “Sharks.”
The fiber-optics company will be hosting a “Shark Tank” event on Friday, March 24 at Fiber Instrument Sales in Oriskany. The day-long event will allow students to explore all aspects of business and entrepreneurial concepts.
Students will begin in “incubator” groups learning how to bring ideas to fruition. Then, the groups will formulate their own business ideas using what they’ve learned about various aspects of business, from market and need analysis to research and funding. The students will then present their business ideas to various local “sharks.” These judges and mentors include various local college officials, as well as administrators from BOCES and various business representatives.
Giotto Enterprises CEO Frank Giotto and Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon will be in attendance and give opening comments on the event. Various local businesses will also be on hand to demonstrate their support for the students.
